About the Player
Ty Cobb says: “Danny Murphy was a star with the Athletics in 1911, and it was his fine work and shrewd field leadership—for he was the captain of the club then—that had much to do with the Philadelphia team taking the championship of the American League, and finally the supreme title of champions of the world.”
About the Series
Seven layers make up a Helmar Oasis card. Each layer has to fit perfectly. It takes a long time to construct each card, then scuff it to make it seem well-worn; it's already well-loved, by us. Oasis is designed to evoke the Gaslight Style, a name applied to commercial trade signs of the 1870's through 1890's, in an era that succumbed to electric light. The essence of Helmar Oasis is depth. The pictures of the players arise in a shadowy light, to seem like they're almost emerging from another plane of existence. Each card is about 2.65" x 4". Gouache paintings by J. Scott Pedely.
