About the Player
John J. McGraw says: “I have included Rucker [on the All-Time team] because of his greatness in the National League during the period of its greatest growth. He never played in any other league. Rucker was easily the greatest slow-ball pitcher that I have ever seen. He relied on that tantalizing floater almost solely in critical moments. Occasionally he would serve a swifter ball, but even that was only a half-speed delivery—just enough to be a foil for his teasers.”
About the Series
The glory of 19th century design is revisited in this series by your friends at Helmar. We've kept the look of the early line drawings but improved them so that the players are recognizable. Yet again, all the artwork is original to Helmar and printed in stunning color. We've chosen a beautiful paper with a soft hand that tested best for the subtle color transitions. Each card is about 3' x 5'.
