About the Player

A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: 1919 was a bounce-back year for Ed, as he led the league with 29 victories, a .806 winning percentage, 30 complete games, and 306 innings pitched. He lost Games 1 and 4 of the 1919 World Series, but won Game 7, scattering 7 hits and allowing 1 run. The Reds won the 8th game, and the Series. Last season, Ed won 21 games against 10 losses, while contributing over 300 innings. He bats and throws from the right side, is 5’9” and 175 pounds. Recently, he was placed on an “ineligible” list for his part in throwing the 1919 Series.
