About the Player
A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: The man known to all as “Home Run” will be a welcome addition to the New York Americans this spring. So far his entire career has been with the Philadelphia Athletics club and his career average with them has been .321. Always a threat to pull a long ball, he’s led the American League in round-trippers four of the seven years that he’s been in the big leagues. He’s also led in triple baggers once (1909) and runs batted in twice (1912 and 1913). John was born in Trappe, Maryland, on March 13, 1886. He is 5’11” and 173 pounds, all tough as nails.
About the Series
The glory of 19th century design is revisited in this series by your friends at Helmar. We've kept the look of the early line drawings but improved them so that the players are recognizable. Yet again, all the artwork is original to Helmar and printed in stunning color. We've chosen a beautiful paper with a soft hand that tested best for the subtle color transitions. Each card is about 3" x 5".
