About the Player
John J. McGraw says: “Our Baltimore club had been playing but a short while when I discovered that I could not get along with Johnson. As President of the League he was constantly picking on the Baltimore club—setting me down for frequent suspensions and frequently disciplining other players. His severity was unusual and unjust, I thought. This crippled us considerably. I am not exactly a fool and I soon discovered what I thought to be the cause of this. Johnson’s ultimate ambition was to get a club in New York.”
About the Series
The glory of 19th century design is revisited in this series by your friends at Helmar. We've kept the look of the early line drawings but improved them so that the players are recognizable. Yet again, all the artwork is original to Helmar and printed in stunning color. We've chosen a beautiful paper with a soft hand that tested best for the subtle color transitions. Each card is about 3" x 5".
