About the Player
A short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: He doesn’t break down any fences with his wallops, but he’s a pretty dependable fellow to have on a ball club, good enough to have been named player-manager for the Boston club. He’s a good fielder, fleet of foot and hits generally when the blows are needed. Hails from Lewiston, Maine, and joined the Red Sox after leaving College of the Holy Cross. His first year was 1906 and he took on the managerial duties in 1913. Is a right hander, 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds.
