About the Player
A short bio from the Boston Garter Game of the Century card back: Muscular first baseman Jimmie Fox of the Philadelphia A’s is the most menacing batter in all of baseball. Called “the right-handed Babe Ruth” Foxx not only hits home runs in bunches, he also hits them almost clean out of the ballpark. Last year, after a mild slump in 1931, he almost equaled Ruth’s famous record by bashing 58 four baggers to go along with his .364 batting average and 169 runs knocked in. Jimmie is a genial soul and sociable guy, but facing him in the Game of the Century will be no picnic for any NL hurler.

We’ve selected some of our favorite historic photos and have artfully colorized the player figures and set them against original backgrounds that evoke the magnificent style of the period.
