About the Player
The short bio from the Helmar-R319 card back: This young rightfielder is originally from the Kansas City area. He made his first appearance with Brooklyn in 1912, when he was 21. The next campaign he was a regular player. Rooters were impressed with the 7 home runs that he smashed that year and his .272 batting average was a sign of good things to come. Wilbert Robinson, the new skipper of the Brooklyn club, is anxious to pull “Casey” aside and teach him some of the finer points of the game. Stengel is a willing pupil and we can expect his value to rise with both management and the fans.
