Detroit's reputation as a baseball town has at times nearly equaled its reputation as the "arsenal of democracy". There are forty-four card subjects identified with the city. While there are several names of the highest caliber (the name "Ty Cobb" jumps to mind) there are also a number of wonderfully obscure players of which only Helmar would ever consider publishing. Besides Detroit's main team, the Tigers, two Negro League teams are represented. Delightfully, two black members of the Hall of Fame are found within.
