Each hand puzzle constituts a game piece that includes 3 dice with outcomes detailed on the puzzle backs. Two new players were introduced within this series extension, #47 (Lazzeri)and #81 (Cravath). Additionally, the last two puzzles (#82 and #83) feature John McGraw in multi-player illustrations. The back of #83 features a checklist.
The pieces are based on a baseball dice game that a ten-year old Charles Mandel "invented". While the thought was original for him, he was completely unaware that some 10,000 other young fans over many decades had "invented" similar versions of the same game. It was not until more than 50 years after originally inventing the game that Mandel was able to produce these colorful pieces.
After rolling the 3 dice included within the top of the piece the player checks the reverse for the related outcome. The outcomes are derived from player statistics for a specific year. 27 of each puzzle were produced.
