The American Giants were one of the most dominant and greatest black teams ever assembled. Considered to be established in 1911 through the efforts of Rube Foster, it emerged from a complicated rootball of Chicago black teams that often shared players, facilities and investors. In any event, the American Giants continued play until 1952. Three subjects from the team appear in the Helmar T206 series, two of which are Hall of Famers. Rube Foster (#39) appeared early in the series and sold briskly. Pete Hill (#460) was introduced much later and appeared to be just as popular. Lou Dials (#506) is the third American Giant.
